Who we are

Feylo is a money-planning product for couples, operated in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Feylo is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

For the registered details of the company acting as controller, write to us at [email protected] and we will provide them.

What we collect

Account information

Your email address, and the first name you choose to display to your partner. We do not ask for a surname, a date of birth, an address or a telephone number, and Feylo has no password to store.

Household financial information

The figures you enter: what each of you earns and how often, what the household pays out regularly, and what each of you pays individually. These are amounts and descriptions you type in. Feylo does not connect to any bank account and holds no transaction data, card details or account numbers.

Your questionnaire answers

The options you select when answering the twelve questions about how you think money should work, and the interpretation Feylo derives from them. These belong to you individually rather than to your household. See what your partner can and cannot see.

Your household agreement

The decisions the two of you make, each revision of them, and a record of who accepted which revision and when. An agreement is a shared document: both of you can see all of it.

Technical information

When the app talks to our servers we process the network address it connects from and ordinary request information, which is used to operate the service and to apply the rate limits that protect sign-in codes from abuse. We also hold a record of the devices that hold a valid sign-in token, so that you can sign out of them.

What we do not collect

  • Bank credentials, card details or transaction data.
  • What you spend your personal money on.
  • Location data, contacts, photos or anything else from your phone.
  • Advertising identifiers, or any profile built for marketing purposes.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

We rely on performance of a contract for everything needed to provide the product: holding your account so you can sign in, holding your figures so a plan can be calculated, holding your answers so a comparison can be produced, and holding your agreement so your plan can follow it.

We rely on our legitimate interests for keeping the service secure and available: rate limiting, preventing abuse of sign-in codes, and diagnosing faults. Our interest is in running a service that works and is not abused; we have considered that this does not override your interests because the data involved is limited and technical.

We rely on consent where you ask to join the beta by giving us your email address for that purpose. You can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete it.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your financial information to profile you or to target advertising.

What your partner can and cannot see

This is the part people care most about, so it is stated plainly.

Your partner can see:

  • Your first name.
  • The income and personal commitments you have recorded, because your shared plan depends on them.
  • Your contribution to household money, and what you keep, as figures in the plan.
  • The amount of personal money you agreed.
  • Everything in your household agreement.
  • The comparison Feylo writes about the two of you, topic by topic.

Your partner cannot see:

  • Your questionnaire answers. These are never shown to them, in any form, at any point. The comparison the two of you read is derived text that we write for both of you; it is not one person's answers handed to the other.
  • Your interpreted money preferences.
  • What you spend your personal money on. Feylo does not hold that at all.
  • Your email address, from within the app.

Creating the household grants no additional access. The partner who set it up has exactly the same visibility of your answers as a stranger: none.

Who else is involved

We keep the list of third parties as short as we can. At present it is:

  • Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), which delivers the emails containing your sign-in code. To send you a code, your email address and the message are processed by Brevo.
  • Our hosting provider, which runs the servers and the database the service depends on.
  • Thackr, which receives beta requests made through the form on this website. When you ask for an invitation, the address and first name you type are sent to a form endpoint at portal.thackr.co.uk and held there until we collect them. This applies only to the beta request form; it has no part in the Feylo app.

Each of these acts as a processor on our instructions, under a contract that requires them to keep your data secure and to use it only to provide their service to us.

Analytics and tracking

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. It sets no cookies, and it loads no third-party scripts. See the cookie notice.

The app contains no advertising or marketing software development kits, and no third-party analytics. If that changes, we will say so here and in the app before it does, and where consent is required we will ask for it properly rather than assuming it.

How long we keep things

  • Sign-in codes are deleted as soon as they are used, replaced by a newer code, or expire. They live for minutes.
  • Invitations are held until used, revoked or expired, and only as a digest rather than as the link itself.
  • Your account, figures, answers and agreement are kept while your account exists, because the product cannot work without them.
  • Beta requests — the address and first name you submit — are kept until the beta closes or you ask us to remove them, whichever is sooner. That includes the copy held by the form endpoint described above.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything inaccurate;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it;
  • ask for your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where we relied on it.

Email [email protected] from the address on your account. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

Deletion from within the app is not available yet, and during the beta these requests are handled by email. We would rather tell you that than offer a button that only does part of the job.

Data in a shared household

Some records genuinely belong to both of you. Your household agreement is a document the two of you made together, and your partner's plan is calculated from figures that include yours.

When you ask us to delete your data, we remove what is personal to you, and we tell you plainly what must remain so that your partner's household continues to make sense, what form it remains in, and for how long. We will never hand your questionnaire answers to your partner as part of that process, whatever the circumstances in which a household ends.

Where your data is processed

Feylo is operated from the United Kingdom. Brevo, our email provider, is established in the European Union and may process your email address there. Transfers to the EEA are covered by the UK's adequacy regulations for the EEA.

Children

Feylo is for adults sharing a household and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has an account, tell us at [email protected] and we will remove it.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle your data in a way that matters, we will update this notice, change the date at the top, and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect. We will not quietly widen what we do with your information.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Money that works for both.
